Steelwork

    Design

    What it's about

A basic introduction to the practical use of PDMS for steelwork design.

    Who it's for

Engineers who will be designing and constructing 3d computer models of steelwork

Other users who need a solid grounding in PDMS before taking on responsibility for other aspects of PDMS and its family of related products.

    Duration

    5 days

    Topics covered

    Overview of PDMS

    • The benefits of creating a computer model of the plant to be designed and what can it be used for.

    • What other PDMS modules there are and what they are used for.

    The principles of using PDMS

    • The principles of a database within the PDMS design hierarchy

    • The way catalogues, specifications and design data link together. Using a workstation running PDMS

    • Basic use of a workstation, mouse, keyboard (only if required).

    • Using the graphical user interface to select required options from the on-screen and pull down menus.

Building up a model in PDMS

    • How to build up a model from real engineering drawings by creating, orientating and positioning steelwork elements and design primitives.
